Memories as we Remember them

Real Vs Fake... you tell me

In high school you'll let friends do anything to you, if it makes you cooler. I spent a good couple months with my best friend trying to impress two other girls, who we kind of knew. We wanted to be more like them, understand life they way they did. Have people worship us, like the way these other two "best friends" were. We finally started hanging out with them, and one night we were have a major sleep over at my house. Someone came up with this genius plan to let Whitney cut bangs for me. I loved it, she looked cool and super pretty, so if she knew nothing about hair cutting, it wouldn't matter right? Wrong. She butchered my hair. Then it got worse when my best friend thought they looked pretty good, so she said "I'm Next!" Next thing you know she has intense, horribly chopped layers that create a bird ready to take flight on her head. Dark brown and blond hair covered the floor in my basement. And just looking at eachother we both knew what the other was thinking...
A couple months later by bangs grew out enough that I could stop the pinned back look. But it took at least a year later for my best friend to grow back the hair she had. And still it looked thin. We learned a pretty good lesson that night.

In was really hot in July this year, there were a ton of people over enjoying the hot sun, while swimming in my pool. Trees covered the sun from heating the water, usually making the water to cold to get into, but today it was perfect. It cooled your skin to the perfect degree. Slowing the day began to fade into dusk, and it became harder to see outside, but still just as sticky hot. Even more so as the sun started to disappear. I went inside quickly to order pizza for everyone, it had been a long day and we'd all grown an appetite. I got off the phone in time to hear someone scream loudly. I jumped to my feet and sprinted to the poolside, trying to stop quickly to figure out what happened but I slipped on the puddle near the pool and slipped right down onto my butt. I felt the hard cement crush my bottom, instantly pounding my body to a stop. I tried to hide the tears and slowly everyone started to point and laugh. I jumped quickly into the water as to hide the tears that slowly slid down my cheecks.. hoping the pain would go away if i tried swimming. No such luck.

  1. This is hard to detect real version. I'm going to say version about lovely haircut is the real version...

  2. Hmmmm... You are good at this; I'm not sure which is real. *pouts*

I'm gonna go with my first reaction and say that the 'popular' haircut is true.

Bird ready to take flight on her head. I've had close ties with salons all my life, and I must say, I'm VERY interested to see that.

Also, I love your color scheme, just throwing it out there.

  3. I'm going to have to go with the general consensus on this one, and say that I believe the true memory is the former of the two. They both have elements of believable realism in them; however, from my own difficulties in coming up with a memory that would seem real enough to be mistaken for truth, I noticed a couple things about the second memory that raised a red flag, so to speak: brevity, abundance of detail, etc. I could just as easliy be totally wrong, but I'm going with my gut on this one.
